Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN Rumoured To Go Into Production Sometime In 2019

Now Heroic Hollywood is reporting, that the film is likely to go into production sometime in 2019. This certainly would make sense, what with Shazam! currently filming in Toronto, along with both Wonder Woman 2 and the Todd Philips Joker film set to go into production later this year.

This 2019 production date means we likely won’t see The Batman until 2020 or 2021, making it a full 8 or 9 years since the vigilante’s last solo outing in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises. If this is the case, it will be the longest period of time between Batman films since the gap between 1997’s Batman & Robin and the Chris Nolan reboot in 2005, Batman Begins.

A 2020 release date would also see The Batman hit theatres the same time as Flashpoint,  which is said to begin production either late this year or early next, following reports that Warner Bros are planning to shoot the film in Vancouver.

Details are still unclear on whether our Schrodinger’s Batman, Ben Affleck will still be in the role but if the 2019 production date is to be believed, then we’ll no doubt find out sooner rather than later.
