The warning from NASA and other curiosities of ‘Encuentros en la fase fase’

After a televised stage in which he had made jewels like ‘ El diablo sobre ruedas ‘ (in 1971) and debuted in 1974 with ‘Loca evasión’, the first bombing of Steven Spielberg was ‘ Tiburón ‘ , premiered in 1975.

The one that later would become the King Midas of Hollywood, already had demonstrated then his value like producer, and the success of his previous film was the one that took to him that in 1977 presented/displayed to the world one of the most representative titles of its race: ‘ Encounters in the third phase ‘ .

The project, which had had in mind since 1973, had been changing over the years, and despite being faithful to an origin that went back to the fascination that the director had felt since childhood for space and UFO phenomena, the film was growing in such a way that it had to multiply its budget by almost twenty so that it could be carried out.

Alien contact

Starring Richard Dreyfuss , Melinda Dillon , Teri Garr and François Truffaut , ‘Encounters in the third phase’ takes us to a quiet night in Indiana, where Roy Neary (Dreyfuss) watches a series of flying objects in the sky.

With the intention of finding an answer to this phenomenon, he will become obsessed in such a way that he will end up associating with a woman, Jillian Guiler (Dillon), who also lives obsessed with it. In parallel, a team of scientists led by Claude Lacombe (Truffaut) will investigate the phenomenon that seems to have a close resolution: the extraterrestrial contact is closer and closer in time.

In the present special, we remember some of the curiosities and data that have always revolved around ‘Meetings in the third phase’ (beyond the cameo of R2-D2 in the mother ship of the film) , the title with which Spielberg He ended up consecrating as one of the great representatives of the new Hollywood of the late twentieth century.
